Vrede er en grundlæggende følelse, der er god, når den er kontrolleret, og skrækkelig, når den ikke er. Hvis måden, du reagerer på, koster dig job, relationer og meget mere, kan du overveje lidt anger-management.
Vrede kan være en puls-stigende respons på andre menneskers adfærd, men den kan også blive udløst af dine egne tanker og erindringer. Den er forankret i et grundlæggende, biologisk instinkt, som giver os mulighed for at forsvare os mod en trussel. Men i den moderne verden må vrede kontrolleres for ikke at kunne få alvorlige konsekvenser.
For personer, der har svært ved at styre deres vrede, kan det være nødvendigt med lidt angermanagement træning.
Evolutionære konsekvenser
Vrede er generelt anerkendt som en grundlæggende følelse, som er opstået i løbet af menneskets evolution. Som en følelsesmæssig tilstand, varierer vrede i intensitet, som en reaktion på opfattet fare i situationer, hvor en person bliver overfaldet, kritiseret, eller føler sig frustreret.
En tillært respons
Vrede er ofte en sekundær følelse. Det betyder, at vreden kommer som resultat af en anden følelse – oftest stress. Vrede kan være en ubehagelig følelse, med ubehagelige resultater, herunder en øget risiko for hjertelidelser, hvis den ikke håndteres korrekt.
Mange mennesker lærer at håndtere vrede ud fra det miljø, de er vokset op i. Forskning peger på, at mennesker, der har dårlig styr på deres vrede, voksede op i hjem, der var kaotiske og med personer, der havde svært ved at komme af med deres vrede på en ordentlig måde.
Tegn på mistet kontrol
Vrede er et problem, når den bliver for intens, sker for ofte, varer for længe, påvirker sundhed og relationer, eller fører til aggressioner mod personer eller ejendomme. Du har problemer med at styre din
vrede, hvis:
- Personer i dit liv fortæller dig, at de synes, du hele tiden er vred, nærtagende, eller irritabel.
- Du reagerer med voldsomme ord eller handlinger ude af proportioner med situationen.
- Du har mange brudte relationer
- Du ofte mister dit job
Fælles tankeprocesser
Forskere ved, at der er nogle tankeprocesser, der er fælles for personer, der har svært ved at styre vrede.
F.eks. vredesudbrud i trafikken, og forældre, der bliver voldsomt rasende, når de er med til deres børns sport. Begge situationer demonstrerer en vrede, der er ude af kontrol, men begge på grund af en persons urimelige ønske om at kontrollere andre, eller en tro på at en hændelse vil afspejle sig dårligt på dem.
Kurser
En af de ting, der læres på et anger management kursus, er en ny måde at tale om sine følelser på. Ved at bruge jeg-udsagn, som for eksempel ”Jeg føler mig vred, når man ikke anerkender mine præstationer, fordi jeg har brug for at vide, mit arbejde er værdifuldt.” bliver der sat ord på følelserne, hvilket gør det nemmere at forstå og håndtere dem.
Strategier – Hvis du har problemer med at styre din vrede, så prøv disse strategier til at holde den i ave:
Tag det roligt:
Hvis du kan forudse en situation, der vil gøre dig vred, så prøv at få processen ned i fart og på den måde forhindre, at du når at blive for vred.
Empati:
Nogle gange har de personer, der udløser din vrede, deres egne problemer og følelser at håndtere. Empati med deres situation, kan også hjælpe dig.
Løs et problem:
Hvis en situation gør dig vred, så find på en plan og tag derefter skridt til at ændre nogle af de ophidsende aspekter.
Forandringer:
Elementer i din dagligdag eller miljø kan være med til at gøre dig mere tilbøjelig til at miste kontrollen. For eksempel, hvis du har en tendens til at blive vred, når du er stresset, så forsøg at finde en måde at afstresse på, før du rammer det tidspunkt på dagen, hvor du sandsynligvis er mest stresset.
Skift tankegang:
Hvis du ikke kan ændre dine omgivelser, så kan du forsøge at ændre den måde, du tænker på begivenhederne. Søg eventuelt hjælp fra en kognitiv adfærdsterapeut, der kan lære dig strategier til at mestre det.
Brug humor:
Et godt grin kan bryde spændingen eller bare give dig et bedre perspektiv.
Og, hvis der er en måde, du kan undgå en person eller situation, der altid gør dig vred, så gør det.
